Throwback Tuesday takes us back to another classic adventure involving the Dark Knight Detective. Continuing a storyline begun in Batman #384, Detective Comics #551 is the middle chapter of a story in which Calendar Man has been hired to kill Batman. Making it appear that the villain has plans to kill Robin, pushing Batman to protect the Boy Wonder (a choice that really pisses off Jason Todd who is already in prime bratty little shit form), Calendar Man continues to commit a series of robberies centered around holidays since the beginning of the year.
Although none of the three issues are as good as the covers, and we sadly don’t get to see Calendar Man in his full costume (as the villain chooses instead to dress for each holiday), there’s still plenty to enjoy here including Batman in his best version of his costume kicking some Calendar Man ass, while still getting outmaneuvered by the villain who stays one step ahead of Batman heading into the conclusion in Batman #385.
