- Title: Batman: The Long Halloween – The Last Halloween #1
- Comic Vine: link
- Writer: Jeph Loeb
- Artist: Eduardo Risso
Promising to be the final Long Halloween story (mmhmm, sure), and set the following Halloween after the events of the original series, Batman: The Long Halloween – The Last Halloween #1 returns writer Jeph Loeb with a rotating group of artists for a multi-part mystery for our Dark Knight Detective and plenty of cameos (this first issue offers plenty of both with Catwoman, Solomon Grundy, Two-Face, and more).
Issue #1 feels like Loeb setting up the chess board. We get a new Holiday killer taking a shot at Catwoman, the return of Mario Falcone to Gotham City, and Jim Gordon‘s son being abducted while trick-or-treating with his parents. Set after the events of Dark Victory, we also get the learning pains of Batman working with an overeager Robin and allusions to the Joker. It will be interesting to see the story and art evolve from issue to issue, but I do like Eduardo Risso’s work here which certainly has a Sale-like flair.
