Ahsoka #1

Ahsoka #1

The first issue of a by-the-numbers adaptation of the Disney+ series of the same name, Ahsoka #1 retells the events of the first episode of the series without adding any new context. I’ll be honest, the idea of an Ahsoka comic series grabbed my interest, but realizing it was just republishing events of the series quickly dimmed those expectations.

Ahsoka #1 isn’t a bad issue by any means. It’s just what you would expect, and nothing more. It covers the events of inarguably the best episode of the entire series. Along with Ahsoka kicking some ass retrieve the secret map (which comic panels don’t quite do justice to), we do get the introduction of Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati and the reunion of Ahsoka and Sabine Wren on Lothal. Still, even for those who enjoyed the hit-and-miss storytelling of the Ahsoka series more than I did, I don’t know that there’s much (if anything) to be further explored from what was already given to us in the series.
