The Robot Chicken Star Wars Special

We love us some Robot Chicken, especially when they take a pointed, but affectionate, stab at our beloved Star Wars (check out two of our favs – “What the Hell is the Aluminum Falcon” and “And as I Child I Built C-3P0”).  Tonight Cartoon Network is premiering the brand-spanking-new Robot Chicken: Star Wars special as a part of Robot Chicken marathon which begins at 10:00/9:00 pm.  If you miss the first airing don’t worry, the special is scheduled to re-run at the top of the hour all night and into the wee-hours of the morning.  Hope you’ll be watching; you know we will be!

Farewell Mr. Wizard

Sad news for fans for fans of Don Herbert, known for decades as television’s Mister Wizard.  On Tuesday Herbet lost his battle with cancer and died in his California home at the age of 89.  In the 50’s Mr. Wizard taught the joys of science to children in his show Watch Mister Wizard for which he won a Peabody in 1954.  The show was revived in the 70’s and again in the 80’s as new generations learned the joys of science through simple experiments using household items that kids at home could recreate.  Thanks for the memories Mr. Wizard, and farewell.

Tube News

Fans of the recently cancelled show Jericho showed there displeasure by flooding CBS headquarters with peanuts (based on a line from the last show “Nuts!”).  The never-ending optimism of the Veronica Mars faithful has organized a similar campaign to send Mars Bars and Marshmallows to the CW (for more on the campaign go here).  Sadly though it seems the cause is lost.  Creator Rob Thomas has taken a new job as executive producer for ABC’s Miss/Guided, though he does hold out hope for a future film version and, more likely, a comic book version of the heroine’s exploits through DC Comics.
