It’s official, Doctor Who has named the actor to replace Peter Capaldi as the next incarnation of The Doctor, and that actor is Jodie Whittaker. In a move that’s likely to split Who fans, the show has chosen the character to become female for the first time in the show’s 54-year run. Hopefully the show’s writers have thought of a good reason for the change (especially since The Doctor seemed to imply something was uncommon about The Master‘s recent gender-swap into Missy).
