Following Son of Batman (available for download now, and on DVD and Blu-ray next week), DC Animation turns to Batman: Assault on Arkham for its next project. Returning Kevin Conroy as Batman, the film is obviously inspired by the popular video game franchise whose design I’ve never really care much for (although the gameplay is at times quite a bit of fun), in a storyline centering around the Joker (Troy Baker), Arkham Asylum, and a New 52-ish version of the Suicide Squad (Neal McDonough, Eliza Dushku, Hynden Walch, Kevin Grevioux). Batman: Assault on Arkham should hit the direct-to-video market sometime later this summer.

In DC Comics next animated feature, Superman vs. The Elite, writer Joe Kelly adapts his own story (“What’s So Funny About Truth, Justice & the American Way?“) which features Superman (George Newbern) dealing with a new group of powerful, but far less ethical, super-heroes known as The Elite. Pauley PerretteRobin Atkin Downes, and David Kaufman also lend their voices to the project. The movie will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on June 12th.

Bond celebrates turning 50 with new Blu-ray box set

If you’re a late night viewer of Cartoon Network or Boomerang or were a kid in the mid-60’s you’ve no doubt seen these clasic Filmation cartoons starring Green Lantern, the Flash, the Atom, Hawkman, the Teen Titans, and the Justice League of America.  18 of these 60’s adventures, which originally aired between episodes of the The Superman Aquaman Hour of Adventure, are collected on two discs and will hit stores on August 12th.  Fans of the cartoons can also find the intro for the Flash inside.

As a Buffy fan I love me some Eliza Dushku, but I never really got into this coroner/time traveller tale.  Fox Home Entertainment has repackaged both first and second seasons of Tru Calling together for a complete series set.  In the series, Dushku stars as a woman working the night shift in the morgue who discovers the ability to re-start her day in order to save someone’s life.  Fans of the show can check out the series’ intro and a short interview with its star below.  The 7-disc box set will be avialable on August 12th.
