The Top 10 Movies of 2016

2016 may have lacked the one knockout film to top my list, but as a whole the year produced a number of quality movies adding a depth that made it difficult to cut down the list to a meager ten. Honorable mentions include animated features Kubo and the Two Strings and Finding Dory, Mel Gibson‘s divisive Hacksaw Ridge, and the bizarrely fascinating indie gems The Eyes of My Mother, Swiss Army Man, and The Neon Demon. Top Five Gene Wilder Movies

I was sad to hear that Gene Wilder passed away this week at the age of 83. Rather than mourn his passing this list celebrates some of the best films he left behind. By keeping the list to only five I’m choosing those which I believe are the cream of the crop of Wilder’s career which means you favorite may have just missed the cut, but I’ll stand by my choices. Wilder’s career may not have been as wide or varied as some, but there are gems which will continue to shine brightly for years to come. Let’s countdown the Top Five Gene Wilder Movies.

True, she might not grab the starring role, but she finds a way to make an immediate and lasting impression whether in only a single scene we can’t quite forget where she effortlessly steals the spotlight before fading back into anonymity or popping up in movies and television over the years here and there, almost always reminding us that we have seen her before even if we can’t quite remember where. Even if we can’t quite think her name we immediately recognize her face and search furiously through our brains to remember where we have seen “that girl” before.
