While trying to find a way to celebrate Thanksgiving with both friends and family, McGarrett‘s (Alex O’Loughlin) plans go awry thanks to the murder of an agent of the Secret Service by an assassin less than 12 hours before the arrival of the President on the island, Mary‘s (Taryn Manning) poor cooking skills, and the arrival of his Aunt Doris (Carol Burnett) who is carrying sad tidings and gets herself arrested for attempting to buy marijuana from an undercover cop on Thanksgiving.
While leaving Catherine (Michelle Borth) to deal with Doris whose medical situation will hit both Steve and Mary hard, McGarrett leads Five-0 on a chase around the island for the assassin, but time is of the essence given the President’s refusal to change his plans which include a very delicate top secret meeting with ambassadors from North Korea.
Memorable mostly for the appearance of Burnett, who ends the show with a performance in Nicky Demarco’s (Larry Manetti) lounge, the episode’s main story about the assassin has a couple of nice twists and turns as Five-0 discover almost too late that his target isn’t the President but a witness to a mob killing in hiding on the island. The episode also offers a single scene with Kono (Grace Park) continuing her search for Adam (Ian Anthony Dale) as the date of her return to Five-0 continues to remain up in the air.
