Batman: Caped Crusader - Savage Night

After a short stint in Arkham Asylum for evaluation, the First Season finale features Barbara Gordon (Krystal Joy Brown) attempting to convince Harvey Dent (Diedrich Bader) to work with her but all the fight seems to have gone out of the defeated former District Attorney. Kidnapping Dent during a prisoner exchange, Flass (Gary Anthony Williams) and Bullock (John DiMaggio) plan to kill Harvey, who in the skirmish ends up cuffed to Babs and running for their lives on the Gotham docks.

It’s an odd choice for a season to build up to the event of Two-Face and only give us about half an episode of seeing the villain unleashed, as he is already presented as a shell of his former self here. The arrival of Batman (Hamish Linklater) and Montoya (Michelle C. Bonilla) help bring events to a close offering plenty of opportunity for Batman to use the fog to take out the various mobsters. The episode ends with the apparent death of Harvey (which, if true, feels like a huge waste of the character which is also the main problem with The Dark Knight). Despite the amount of action in the finale, it does seem anticlimactic given all that has come before leaving the tease of the Joker in a Second Season only marginally washing the bad taste out of your mouth.
