- Title: Spidey Super Stories #23
- Comic Vine: link
- Writers: Bill Mantlo, Nicola Cuti, Jim Salicrup
- Artist: Winslow Mortimer
Wayback Wednesday takes us back to another classic adventure of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. The main story of Spidey Super Stories #25 pits Spidey against an evil twin created by Doctor Doom. It’s just the kind of wacky adventure you’d expect from the comic with Spidey battling his doppelganger before destroying the mirror which hid Doom’s evil twin-making machine (and for some reason destroys the twin?) and capturing Doom. While the logic at the end may not make much sense, it’s still quite a bit of fun with evil Spidey wearing a reversed-colored costume and looking for trouble.
The issue includes a pair of equally wacky back-up stories in which Spider-Man takes up a director’s offer to be in the movies, only to get cast as a stunt man stand-in taking the brunt of every scene. And Impossible Man returns to cause havoc in “Pest from the Planet Poppup!” before learning a valuable lesson how his powers can be used to help rather than hurt others.
