- Title: Leverage: Redemption – The One Man’s Trash Job
- IMDb: link
The team targets a plastic exporter (Joshua Bitton) who has been dumping waste in local waters and threatening local fishermen who attempt to bring his crimes to light. Rather than targeting his wrongdoing, or attempt to bring it to light, the script gets a bit overly-complicated and takes a hard right turn after the discovery that our baddie of the week is also smuggling high-end antiquities. (Why not just make him a smuggler to begin with rather than adding the dumping storyline which feels like a tacked on feel-good bookend to the story which is, at best, only marginally connected?)
The con gets off to a rocky start when Sophie (Gina Bellman) runs into an old enemy (Damian O’Hare) working as a forger for the mark who, against his better judgement, agrees to work with her again. However, the plan hits another snag when our thieves loose their key to finding a storage container full of stolen artifacts. The episode is notable for exposing a bit more of Sofie’s past (which is arguable whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing), Harry (Noah Wyle) getting to play a Chechens middle-man for a terrorist, the last-minute recasting of Eliot (Christian Kane) as a crooked Fed, and for bringing back a little more of Parker‘s (Beth Riesgraf) zaniness which has often been dialed down in the reboot.
