Young Justice - Princes All TV review

Two years have passed since the end of the show’s Second Season and “Princes All.” In that time Nightwing (Jesse McCartney) has left the team, Aqualad (Khary Payton) has been promoted to a leadership role in the Justice League, and Miss Martian (Danica McKellar) is now the leader of the expanded teen heroes. There’s quite a bit of set-up in the season premiere including several members of the Justice League resigning feeling hamstrung by politics and current world affairs and introducing the idea of meta-humans being kidnapped, harvested, and sold around the galaxy as soldiers in galactic wars. The later brings a toned-down Nightwing back into the story on the trail of a new lead on the trafficking which opens the door to old friends (a few of whom he enlists on his latest mission).

Angel #4

Angel #4 comic reviewThe first arc of the re-imagined spin-off comes to a close in Angel #4 as Angel is transported to a demon realm to do battle with Amarkax (who has been feasting on victims in California through social media). Despite being haunted by his past and visions of a future featuring a certain blonde Vampire Slayer, Angel is able to take down the demon after learning his name and providing the final ingredient in a spell to bind him for the next 10,000 years or so.

The issue doesn’t include any flashbacks to Angelus to help further explain the mysterious woman who the vampire turned. With the comic moving forward to a big crossover event with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I guess we’ll have to wait and see just what role she may play down the road.

Danger Man - Sabotage television review

Throwback Tuesday takes us back into the Cold War spycraft of Danger Man. As a favor for an old friend (Maggie Fitzgibbon), John Drake (Patrick McGoohan) heads to Southeast Asia to investigate the crash of two airplanes which Drake discovers are involved in both a smuggler’s (Bobby R. Naidoo) operation and a journalist’s (Oliver Burt) attempt to recover lost money and prestige in the region by blaming the crashes on the local government. The episode is notable mostly for Drake playing the role of a drunkard blackmailing pilot in order to undercover the operation (taking a pretty good beating by the smuggler’s goons in the process) and discover both the gold smuggling and the method the smuggler uses to deal with those who have outlived their usefulness.
