For Love of Spock DVD reviewBegun before his father’s death as part of Star Trek‘s 50th Anniversary, Adam Nimoy takes a look at Leonard Nimoy‘s life and career, most notably his role as Spock. Including interviews from a wide swath of new and classic Trek actors, Nimoy interviews William Shatner, George Takei, Nichelle Nichols, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, and Zoe Saldana, along with famous fans of Star Trek including Jim Parsons, Jason Alexander, and Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Although it doesn’t go into much depth about Nimoy’s life or his career, there are some nice anecdotes here and some fun classic stills and footage from his early career. Fans of Star Trek should enjoy themselves.

JOE #1 comic reviewAfter reading a couple of pages of this comic the only thought running through my head was “What the hell is going on?” IDW launches a new series featuring the several familiar faces of G.I. JOE in a world that’s certainly less familiar. No longer strictly an American military organization, the JOEs now serve the world at large, taking on trouble all over the world. And in this first issue that includes Roboninjas. That’s right, I said Roboninjas.

Oh, and do you Transformers fans remember the Decepticon Skywarp? He’s now a member of G.I. JOE. No, seriously. I swear I’m not making this up.

Shadowhunters - The Guilty Blood TV review

Given the fallout from last year’s cliffhanger, Shadowhunters spends most of its season premiere resetting the world now that Jace (Dominic Sherwood) is in the clutches of Valentine (Alan Van Sprang) and the new head of the Institute (Nick Sagar) has branded the missing Shadowhunter a traitor – although his true allegiance is still very much in doubt. His mother attempting to kill him in the final scene, however, isn’t likely to entice him to return to the Clave any time soon. Although the truth about his birth from his father gives Jace just as many reasons to run screaming from his father.

Hulk #1 comic reviewCivil War II (Marvel’s latest big event which I gave up on fairly early on) has left Jennifer Walters a changed woman. Unlike Bruce Banner, Jen was always able to control enhanced abilities turning them into an asset rather than a curse. This was fruitful in the courtroom as well as in some super-villain’s secret lair. It seems times have changed.

Trying to get her life back on track, Jen takes a new job at her old law firm and settles in for the new normal. What she’s keeping from the world, however, is that things are no longer normal (or whatever her old status quo used to be). The rage inside her is building and it looks like She-Hulk as we knew her may be gone.

The Librarians and the Curse of Cindy TV review

A love potion run a muck sends the Librarians in search of the my the reasons why a cult has sprung up a failed reality-TV star named Cindy (Rachael Perrell Fosket). While humorous, such as when Flynn (Noah Wyle) and Stone (Christian Kane) fall for Cindy’s spell, and insightful, as in Ezekiel‘s (John Kim) line about not needing others to validate your worth, “And the Curse of Cindy” is a goofy episode full of some puzzling plot points (such as DOSA, their involvement and disappearance, and the entire missile subplot).
