- Title: Psych – Shawn and Gus Truck Things Up
- wiki: link
When their favorite food truck owner is killed Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dulé Hill) go undercover as food truck owners to track down a killer. Talking to the other food truck owners, the pair discover the entire group (except for their recently-deceased friend) pay protection money to a medical student (Corbin Bleu) pretending to be member of a local gang, a rash of bang robberies in the area where the trucks park, and that several local business owners hate the loss of business and parking issues the food trucks create.
While attempting to solve the case Shawn and Gus have to also deal with Henry (Corbin Bernsen) selling Shawn’s childhood home and Marlowe (Kristy Swanson) going into labor of the back of the food truck, much to Lassiter‘s (Timothy Omundson) dismay. In the end the pair catch a killer (or do they as the food truck makes a break for it and is never seen again?), the Lassiter family gets a new addition and a new home, and the show continues the trend of change and farewells as Henry sets out to find a fresh start.
The food truck mystery feels a bit rushed to make room for the other storylines, and doesn’t really have much of a conclusion (although it does offer some unique culinary creations). Henry’s impromptu yard sale leads Gus to realize just how many of his childhood possessions Shawn stole over the years (leading to the episode’s final joke) and also reintroduces the subject of Shawn sleeping with Gus’ sister Joy (Faune A. Chambers). It’s an odd callback, meaning perhaps meaning we’ll see her return before the show concludes? And, speaking of callbacks, we get one of my favorite Pscyh lines as Shawn brings back “I’ve heard it both ways” one more time.
