“You’ve been hanging with McGarrett too long.”
While the team makes final preparations for Chin’s (Daniel Dae Kim) wedding they’re called in to investigate the discovery by neighborhood kids of a comatose victim in an underground bunker. Things get a little more complicated when their investigation intersects with Captain Fryer’s (Tom Sizemore) case.
Deciding to work together, the investigation into the victim turns up a thief (Michael Ng) who robbed, and was later robbed by, the man in a coma. It also turns up the two year-old murder of the coma man’s son and a shakedown gone horribly wrong.
McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) is also approached by Adam Noshimuri (Ian Anthony Dale) searching for his missing father Hiro (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa) who was last seen when Joe White (Terry O’Quinn) kidnapped him at gunpoint. We’ll have to see how this plays out over the rest of the season, but one thing is obvious – Joe knows more about Shelburne then he’s sharing.
The episode includes some fun moments. The wedding works well enough, but I was more intrigued by the episode’s opening sequence in which a perturbed McGarrett finds Danny (Scott Caan) and Lori (Lauren German) handcuffed together in Danny’s hotel room. There’s also a fun scene where Danny gets a suspect to talk by putting a live grenade in his hand and leaving the room (which brings Chin to comment that McGarrett’s influence is starting to rub off).
