- Title: Elementary – All My Exes Live in Essex

Returned to their positions within the NYPD, Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) and Watson (Lucy Liu) investigate an odd case involving the murder of a doctor in her lab whose body was destroyed while her skeleton was left on display as a laboratory specimen. That the woman was losing a battle to cancer and would have died within the year, a fact the leading suspects in the case knew, only makes finding the true (and unusual) motive for the murder that much harder to uncover. There’s plenty of twist and turns in this one before the detectives finally nab their man.
“All My Exes Live in Essex” also introduces Monique Gabriela Curnen as Detective Gina Cortes. In the B-story Watson is notified by several friends that she is being investigated by a detective. A little digging reveals Cortes has a dislike for outside consultants in general and holds a personal beef with Watson and Holmes for a lost promotion. Motivated by misplaced anger, her interest in Holmes and Watson could at some point reveal the background machinations of Sherlock’s father (John Noble) to get the pair reinstated within the department. In the short-term it also provided Watson with an irregular workout (sadly off-camera) in an attempt to work through Cortes issues in a boxing ring.
