- Title: Covert Affairs – Something Against You
- wiki: link
After killing Henry Wilcox‘s (Gregory Itzin) man, Annie (Piper Perabo) uses the man’s cellphone and her connection with Wilcox’s ex-wife (Seeta Indrani) whose fiance he was planning to frame to lay a trap. With little prep time and no resources at her disposal, Annie comes extremely close to taking down Wilcox once and for all, even if it does require helping Henry’s plan along in order to get him to Switzerland and put her plan into action.
Sadly, just as the veteran spy was preparing to move a large amount of cash which would have allowed Annie to follow the money trail possibly back to the terrorist event that killed Teo, Wilcox realizes he’s being played. Once he realizes his ex-wife was in on the plot she cuts all ties with Annie leaving her back at square one. With local authorities hunting the city for a murderer of her description and Wilcox on her scent, the only thing Annie has going for her is the fact that Wilcox doesn’t know who the identity of the mysterious woman screwing with his life from the shadows.
Back in Washington Auggie (Christopher Gorham) gets a visit from Hanna (Michelle Ryan) who he learns Joan (Kari Matchett) has hired to find evidence to take Henry Wilcox down, unaware that Annie is alive and pursuing leads against Wilcox on her own. Joan’s suspicions are raised when she sees Auggie and Calder (Hill Harper) talking in the hallway in hushed tones and the former head of Special Operations begins to become inquisitive on what Auggie is really up to.
Although she comes close, Annie is denied her first real victory over Wilcox. Auggie and Calder’s long con of souring Wilcox on his man inside the agency is slowly bearing fruit, but for Annie more immediate results are needed. Not only does Wilcox avoid his trap, but Annie’s biggest asset is burned after she remarks Annie is far more like her ex-husband than she initially believed. The episode ends with Hanna seeing Annie from a distance but as the credits role it’s unclear whether Auggie’s not-so-dead former wife recognized his not-so-dead current girlfriend.
This season is so good but I don’t want Annie to get too dark.
I can’t decide if I want Annie to go back to the CIA at the end of the season or stay out on her own all the way through part of next season.
Another great episode
