- Title: Castle – Hong Kong Hustle

“She’s just like me, only better.”
It’s been awhile since we’ve seen a jealous Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) but that’s just what “Hong Kong Hustle” delivers when Beckett crosses paths with the impressive Inspector Zhang (Linda Park) while investigating a homicide in Central Park. Initially a suspect, who makes Ryan (Seamus Dever) and Esposito (Jon Huertas) look foolish with very little effort, once her identity is confirmed Zhang joins the official investigation into the death of her oldest friend who got himself in over his head.
There are plenty of red herrings to go around including a FBI investigation, an old friend (Hector Luis Bustamante) of the victim who apparently abducted the man on the day of his murder, and a large amount of illegal drugs used by the victim to frame an innocent man of a crime he didn’t commit. In the end, however, everything boils down to a basic motive (love) allowing Beckett, Castle (Nathan Fillion), and Zhang to capture their killer.
As we’ve seen previously this season we see characters thinking about possible futures or making long term plans that don’t necessarily fit into the show’s structure (continuing to suggest that this might be the final season?). Although Zhang isn’t exactly the super-cop with the perfect family Beckett first believes her to be that doesn’t stop Kate from thinking about the state of her life and her current role in the department foreshadowing a possible new path for Castle’s wife (likely to begin only after the show comes to a close).
